ST. LOUIS – It may not be as well known as the America’s Cup, but the annual Paddle With Your Pooch boat race at the Boathouse in Forest Park has become a summertime tradition for many St. Louis families. The dog-and-master competition, now in its ninth year, kicks off at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 at the Boathouse, with competitors racing in paddleboats across Post-Dispatch Lake. The event will feature three heats followed by a final race to determine the top dog. An awards ceremony will follow the last race.

HOW TO ENTER: The entry fee is $40 per dog-and-master team and includes registration plus one Paddle With Your Pooch T-shirt. (Additional T-shirts may be purchased.) Maximum occupancy per paddleboat is three humans plus one pooch. Please register online at www.boathouseforestpark.com. Pre-payment by credit card is required. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until 25 teams have registered for each heat. Additional entries will be put on a waiting list in the order received. Entry fees are non-refundable.

1 – 1:30 p.m. – First Heat
2 – 2:30 p.m. – Second Heat
3 – 3:30 p.m. – Third Heat
3:30 p.m. – Final race, immediately followed by the awards ceremony

We suggest parking in one of the Muny lots after the Boathouse lot is full.
