St. Louis Culinary Students Show Their Top Chef Talent

St. Louis, Mo. – June 28, 2012 – The Culinary Institute of St. Louis at Hickey College is sponsoring BRAVO’s Top Chef Tour stop at the Soulard Farmer’s Market on June 30.

This is the first year the Culinary Institute of St Louis is sponsoring the Top Chef Tour. The Top Chef Tour aims to bring fans of the show up close and personal with some of the favorite chef’testants from Seasons 1 through 9. St. Louis is the final stop on this year’s 15-city tour. “We are excited to be part of this year’s Top Chef Tour and to be included in such a prestigious event” says Chris Desens, CEC, program director at the Culinary Institute of St. Louis.

In true “Quickfire Challenge” style, the two chef’testants, Ed Lee (Season 9) and Kenny Gilbert (Season 7), will go head to head for three 1-hour cook-off demos featuring a secret ingredient. Between the demos, the chef’testants will be signing autographs and talking with members of the audience. Visitors can expect to learn cooking tips and Top Chef tricks of the trade, as well as engage in food-themed activities to win prizes. Three exceptional Culinary Institute of St. Louis students will act as sous chefs to the chef’testants while additional Culinary Institute of St. Louis students will prepare food on site for the audience to sample.

The Emmy Award-winning Top Chef is the number one rated food show on cable, and this event draws local and national media coverage. The Top Chef demos will take place at 10:30 am, 12:00 pm, and 1:30 pm. Though online tickets for seats have sold out, standing room viewing for the event is open to the public. Look for the customized 18-wheeler semi truck with the Top Chef logo at Soulard Farmer’s Market.
