Chris: Any word on Brendan Shanahan? I thought I read somewhere that his only option now would be to play for the Blues. Is it possible he may just decide to retire instead?
Jeff Gordon: Yes, he could retire rather than play outside of the northeast.

stlbluespower: What is the one thing--if any--that will get the Blues into the playoffs? Would you say it is consistent scoring or goaltending? And, do you think Mason is number one next year with Bishop as the backup?
Jeff Gordon: Bishop could be the guy next year. We'll see. To make these playoffs, the Blues need to nail down their even-strength defensive play first and foremost. That makes everything else easier.

Marshall Faulk: Hey Jeff, How long before I join the Rams front office and turn things around?
Jeff Gordon: Ready to work 24/7 for the next 12 months solid? That is what it will take. I do think Marshall will end up in a front office some day. Smart guy.

therealdealankiel: Gordo,

I can't help but notice that the Cards should have roughly $35-40 million coming off the books after 2009, which makes a Fuentes signing a little less scary and may put us in the running for that "big bat" and durable, proven starter.

Thoughts?
Jeff Gordon: Correct - I would worry less about Brian's third year know that the team will have cheap players like Rasmus, Wallace, Freese and Mortensen assuming big roles.

That appears to be it for today -- thanks for all the great questions and comments!
