rickmfromnj: Gordo-- Do you think Cardinals management seriously has an interest in AJ Burnett ? Has this guy ever put together a full season (this one's not over yet)??? Why are they so reluctant to give the ball to a young prospect ? thanks-and keep those columns coming-they're great
Jeff Gordon: Again, the Cards love the guy . . . but the Cards aren't philosophically inclined to spend massive dollars on free-agent starting pitching. It's too risky.
Columbia_Ram: I am sure you will get this question most frequently. What are the pros and cons of letting Bennett go? How would it affect the cap? If we do, who do you see making the roster as the other wide out?
Jeff Gordon: I'd like to see Stanley make the roster, one way or another. But bumping Bennett, as much as fans want it, would be hard to do, for a lot of reasons.
CardsFanNY: Gordo--Love the chats! Thanks for your time.
To what extent do you think Lohse's recent woes are attributable to being a lower-end-of-the-order pitcher being matched up with other teams' aces?
Jeff Gordon: He is a solid pitcher, but the last couple of outings have been more typical of his career. He pitched OK, but not quite well enough to win. I would try to re-sign him, though, because is a good, durable hurler who gives his team a chance to win most games.
Adam (Apstl187): Hey Jeff,
Long time reader here originally from Ballwin and live in Peoria now where Rams fans are few and far between. Anyways now that we got to see our Rookie recievers and they performed well is Dante Hall pretty much out as the number 3 reciever? Ide hope so. How about Drew (I cant catch a ball because I dont want to get hit) Bennett. I hope he wasnt suppose to help us get over Ike, This guy is a joke. Is there any trade scenario Rams can seek for this Bum. Looker has Impressed.
Man would I like to see
Holt Bruce Avery Burton and Looker as our reciever, what was this front office thinking?
Jeff Gordon: Again, why would anybody trade for this guy.
Aaron: Gordo,
Two quick questions:
1. Who is the better pitcher: Dan Haren or Adam Wainwright?
2. Given the current & future glut of outfielders, which outfielders will be playing for another organization next season?
Thank you.
Jeff Gordon: Haren is ahead of Wainwright. Could Adam be as good as Danny someday? Absolutely.
As for the OFs, it's anybody's guess how it plays out. How do other teams value these guys? What would they give up to get one of them? It will be interesting.
