Memo to Microsoft: Before you put your company’s hot new product into a comedy writer’s hands, check out the writer’s other work. Clearly, the powers that be at the computer giant didn’t think to watch “Family Guy” before hooking up with creator Seth MacFarlane for a comedy special including embedded pitches for Windows 7. No “Family Guy” fan will be surprised to hear that the special, taped over the weekend, included jokes about deaf people, the Holocaust and incest, but Microsoft apparently was and promptly pulled out, telling Variety that “the content was not a fit with the Windows brand.” “Family Guy Presents: Seth and Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show” (featuring MacFarlane and Alex Borstein, the voice of Lois Griffin on “Family Guy”) is still set for Nov. 7 on Fox, which is said to be looking for a new sponsor.

I think Microsoft already got their publicity out of the show. I think more people will be reading as to why they pulled out of the show more than anything else.
As for Microsoft not knowing that Family Guy and Seth MacFarlane’s sense of humor is raunchy and off color…oh please, that is a bunch of horse crap! They were well aware of the type of humor that the show and its creator are famous for.

Please. Microsoft knows exactly what type of program Family Guy is. Now, not only do they get free publicity (like this blog), they get to look good because they pulled the ad over potentially offensive material. And Family Guy gets free publicity too. Its called clever marketing and we fall for it every single day.

What morons at Microsoft decided to sponsor something without doing any research on the people and type of work the people are known for? I’m sure a new sponser will be found without any problem. Millions will tune in to see the comedy of Seth MacFarlane.
