CBS spins off ‘Criminal Minds’; what’s next?
Gail Pennington
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

“NCIS: Los Angeles” is a hit, and next up for CBS is a spinoff of “Criminal Minds,” reportedly in the works for next season. With three editions of “CSI” and two of “NCIS” (which, you may remember, was a spinoff of “JAG”), on the air already, I’m wondering what’s next. “Ghost Whisperer: The Next Generation,” featuring Melinda’s baby? “Numb3rs” 2, 3 and 4? Or maybe a spinoff of a spinoff: “CSI: Miami: Undercover.”

“Criminal Minds” is another hit procedural for CBS, drawing more than 15 million viewers an episode — all apparently more willing to stomach its hideous, gory, nasty crime stories than I am. (I want “Without a Trace” back!) The spinoff, expected to feature an all-new cast, will be introduced as an episode of the original next spring if all goes well.
