Dateline: Los Angeles
Weather: still cool and overcast.
Temperature in International Ballroom, Beverly Hilton: extremely chilly. One woman in my line of vision seems to have a winter coat draped over her shoulders.
First on the agenda today: breakfast with Retirement Living Television and AARP Television and Radio. (Go ahead, make the joke: prune juice and bran muffins.)
Discovery Networks have the morning, Even for the terminally shallow (i.e. moi), the first panel is riveting. “Whale Wars” is a new series following the crew of the Sea Shepherd as they confront and attempt to cripple Japanese whaling ships. It debuts in November.
Then Discovery treats us to a big screen play of its “The World Is Just Awesome” commercial, which I could see over and over. (Watch it on YouTube.)
)
Later, we’ll get a session on “the dinosaur mummy,” dubbed Leonardo and considered the Holy Grail of paleontology; two panels on the environment — one including Tommy Lee and Ludacris for a series called “Battleground Earth” that they are going to have to explain to me; two new real estate series from TLC; and (all this before the lunch break, mind you) Spike Lee for ESPN Films’ new movie about Jackie Robinson.
I’ll check in again this afternoon if I make it that far.
