Heisman polls and Chase

It’s interesting how one game can change perceptions. Take the Heisman Trophy race, for example. Chase Daniel dropped from first to fourth in the weekly Rocky Mountain News poll of 10 voters.

Texas quarterback Colt McCoy is the new flavor of the moment after his team’s win over Oklahoma and Sam Bradford, another Heisman contender.

How the Rocky’s poll came out this week: 1. McCoy; 2. Bradford; 3. Javon Ringer, RB, Michigan State; 4. Daniel; 5. Tim Tebow.

Daniel had been the favorite for the last several weeks. A big game against Texas, and he could be back on top.

Other less scientific polls this week had it:

Sports Illustrated: 1. McCoy; 2. Bradford; 3. Daniel; 4. Daryll Clack, QB, Penn State; 5. Jeremy Maclin.

Heismanpundit: 1. McCoy; 2. Daniel; 3. Bradford; 4. Max Hall, QB, BYU; 5. Graham Harrell, QB, Texas Tech.

Voting ends after the games of Dec. 7 (Big 12 title game, SEC title game, ACC title game) and will be announced on Dec. 13.

The Orlando Sentinel is also doing a weekly poll. When we get that, we’ll let you know where it stands.
