Codemasters is getting more DiRT on its hands, and this time rally driver Ken Block will throw some of it.

The video game developer says it has signed Block to appear in “DiRT 2,” the follow-up to 2007’s edition of the mud-splattered, gravel-pitted racing game starring the late racing legend Colin McRae, whose name will remain on the game.

For the uninitiated, Block is a high-profile multitasker who also competes as a skateboarder, snowboarder and motocross racer. And somewhere in the middle of all that, he finds time to be the brand chief for DC Shoes.

“DiRT 2,” like the other half dozen or so in the Colin McRae series before it, puts players on unpaved rally courses around the world and includes assorted off-road racing challenges, but this time will employ the EGO engine similar to what was used in “Race Driver: GRID” and have broader online capabilities.

Block also has pieced together a video for the new game, titled “Ken Block Gets DiRTy Too,” and available at the “DiRT 2″ website. The game will hit stores this September for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, Nintendo’s Wii and DS, and PC.
