Michael Jackson’s new and previously unreleased single “This is It” debuted at 11 p.m. Sunday, as the movie “Michael Jackson’s This is It” inches closer to its Oct. 28 release date. The single is from the two-disc soundtrack, out Oct. 27.
Click here to hear the “This is It” single, which features backing vocals from the late singer’s brothers. The song was originally recorded for Jackson’s 1991 album “Dangerous.”
To these ears, the song sounds a bit underproduced, unfinished, and a bit familiar, though Jackson’s vocals are impeccable.

Kevin C. Johnson has covered the St. Louis' music and nightlife scene for the past decade.
This is a great mellow ballad that highlights just how smooth MJ’s voice is. No one does it better than Michael, sing, compose, dance and choreagraph seemingly without effort. He was truly the greatest entertainer and he will be sorely missed.

“It” was the name of his penis. This is a song about a pick up line. A pick up line designed for 10-year-olds. And it worked!

There’s definitely nothing innovative about it. It reminds me of a couple of his old songs, including “Heal the World”. It’s kitschy though…the overall beat stays with me.
