I remember visiting the Steak n’ Shake restaurant in the Chesterfield valley one weekend while we were making a run to Lowe’s. We were moving into our new house and, typically, had plenty of home-improvement work to do.
Suddenly, the roar of a fighter jet came out of nowhere. And I realized the air show was on. I’ve been to three of them since. Always hot and muggy on those Labor Day weekends, the air show never failed to wow me.
Now, it appears that the fair will be no more [1]. West County development means the annual attraction is simply running out of room.
Were you a regular attendee? What was your favorite part of the fair, or the air show? Will you miss it? Does it trouble you that the roar of development may overwhelm the roar of aircraft?
