The Webster Groves community will celebrate the high school’s fourth state football championship with a parade and ceremony Tuesday night.
At 5:30 p.m., the Statesmen will parade west on Lockwood Avenue through the heart of Webster Groves to Rock Hill Road, then return to the school at 100 Selma Avenue by the same route. The parade will be followed by a 6 p.m. ceremony in the high school auditorium, before the start of the fall sports awards program.
No. 1-ranked Webster Groves belted No. 2 Fort Osage 31-14 Saturday night at the Edward Jones Dome to win the Missouri Class 5 championship and complete a 13-0 season.
Webster Groves also won the Class 5 title under current coach Cliff Ice in 2002, and took Class 4A honors in 1988 and 1979 under coach Jack Jones.

Dang — Dub-G Tiger I spit my coffee all over my Mac laughing at your comment. Way to go Statesmen!

Let me just say; I am so proud of each of you for doing such an outstanding job by winning with class.
To the defense; Iron Curtain is what I call each of you.
To the offense; Houdini’s is what I call you.
Special teams; the miracle that made it worth every play.
To Coach Ice, Coach Mack, Coach Abegg, The Kirksey boys and all the other coaches I don’t know by name. Each of you were magnificient as always.
To put a “Dream Team” together as you had this year was like Wow!
Thanks for the memories; One in a Million!

Webster proved Saturday night the only team at the 5A level in Missouri, that can beat Webster, is Webster. After several snapping miscues that killed a couple of early drives and some defensive mismatches at the cornerback position got cleaned up. Fort Osage couldn’t handle the speed from the various positions on offense, defense and special teams.
Coach Ice did a great job in getting touches to alot of different people. And it was great to see senior captain Ryan Mack put the game out of reach with the late touchdown.
Even more impressive was the fact that late in the game after a late hit/ personal foul on Derrick Dilworth, when he went to take a knee with time running out the Statesmen did not get sucked in to taking an unsportmans like conduct penality for retailation.

Yeah it sounds to me like kirkwood bob has a case of the wannabe’s. The parade is going to be just fine without the frisco bell. I can guarantee you all those boys in the stadium on saturday will remember this day for the rest of their lives. The ‘Miracle at Moss’ will also be remembered by some, across this entire nation as one of the most exciting games ever played. Go ahead and ring the bell, doubt we’ll even hear it over the echo of cheers.
To all the boys, Coach Ice and his entire staff who put together a perfect season, filled with great lasting memories!

‘Tis true.
Of course, if you’re from “The Wood” and you’ve got zero state championships and trail in the Turkey Day series 50-40, I can understand how it would be a warm fuzzy to hear your sophomores and freshmen ringing the Bell.

It’s just a shame the Frisco Bell can’t be part of the parade.
