President George W. Bush appears to be on track to fly into St. Louis this afternoon for a quick visit to help U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof raise money for his Republican bid for governor.

The private fundraising event is to be held at Hunter Farms late this afternoon.

The president will be in the region for less than three hours, including drive time to and from the airport.

From Lambert, he’ll fly on to his ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Hulshof’s Democratic rival is Attorney General Jay Nixon.

Earlier, at 2 p.m. today in front of the Old Courthouse downtown, state Democrats will be holding an event in response that features “working Missourians whose jobs were sent out of the country…under the Bush-Hulshof economic crisis.”

    to the True Conservative:
I’m still trying to figure out exactly why you can’t accept Obama as your president. Because he’s black? Because he’s young? Because he’s a democrat? And “not respecting” a Commander in Chief is our right, but “not recognizing” one is another thing all together. There is a vast difference between these two viewpoints. Not recognizing the will of the people in our democracy is as un-American as it gets.

And why, after over a year of seeing his name in the press, do you give him this Irishy sort of “O’Bama” spelling?

    To “TrueConservative”
Where do come off with your anti-American, hateful, attitude? The sort of republican you have revealed yourself to be in your post is exactly the kind that motivates progressive minded people to vote. The disgusting aspect of your perspective is that only one party can represent the USA in the White House, and if the other party wins, well that’s the end of the USA for you? the end of the world for you? We have a democracy in this country, and no democrat has ever created a socialist state here. We have never even come close to it. Why? Because we always allow for the other party to co-exist. We never stole elections until your idol, the idle president Bush did so against Gore. Your view represents neo-fascist, one-party rule. You should take your anti-American philosophy down to Argentina where you might find some Nazi relics hiding out there in the hills who would love to talk to you about your plans for America. Pig.

So, you won’t recognize Obama as your president huh? Now you know how intelligent people have felt like for the past 8 years.

“The public is led like sheep to slaughter by a biased media who is more bent on propaganda and fictional fluff than facts.” May I remind you who has led our troops to slaughter? A man hell-bent on a war using lies and half-truths. Rovian Cheney Machiavellian techniques have been far worse than the media. You’re just angry because the media is reporting McSame/Palin for exactly who hey are. Get over yourself.

I just got off the phone with a fellow Conservative from another state, and we agreed 100% on the problems facing our nation today. Our children have no ability to use their brains as their entire lives are based on entertainment from tv and computers. They literally can’t think for themselves. Society judges others based on looks and perception rather than depth and knowledge. The public is led like sheep to slaughter by a biased media who is more bent on propaganda and fictional fluff than facts.
Every President makes mistakes; every President does some good. I thank God every day that Bush was our President when 9/11 occurred. I shudder to think where we would be otherwise. I have felt safe with him at the helm; should O’Bama win, I will never rest in peace.
Between the media who is as goggle-eyed as a pre-teenager, reporters who refuse to research the truth but choose to ride the hype and propaganda trail to ensure their chosen boy gets elected, and many in the public who would rather close their eyes to reality and hope for a golden horse to ride in and rescue us from a failing global market, I am sickened to think of the socialism that is about to choke our entire country into submission.
Should O’Bama win the election, I will never recognize him as my President. I have learned my lesson well from the liberals: never respect your Commander in Chief, don’t support him if our country is stricken by enemy fire, laugh at him, call him names, spit on his image, and constantly belittle him in front of foreign countries who wish to eliminate us from the face of the earth.
Two can play that game, dear liberals, and I have learned from the best!

We have over 4000 troops dead in Iraq because a gung-ho president thought we would be in and out after we found the WMDs…..and you’re STILL worried about a B.J.?

Bush has gifted us with the biggest deficit in our history (which was -0- when Clinton left) and you’re STILL worried about a B.J.?

Gas prices are so high that poor people can’t afford to fill their tank and you’re STILL worried about a BJ.

BJ or Dead Soldiers. BJ or Deficit. BJ or High Gas Prices.

I wish Bush would have picked the BJ.

Annoyed, Pugman, and KBoothman are living in LaLa Land. What did McSame do in D.C.? The guy was all over the place. He was suspending his campaign. But, he didn’t. Would he debate or not? Geez. The guy is like a walking reaction.

Republican president for 8 years. Republican senate and house majority for 6 years. Democrats have had a majority for 2 years, but not a big enough majority to override any vetoes….of which your esteemed president has utilized about 8 times. So, it is Bush’s fault. He is the man in control. The buck stops with him. Now, pull your head out and check the facts boneheads.

Why can’t his trip be planned so he does not distrupt traffic on major corridors during rush hour. I know he is the President and we should be blessed with his visit, but us little people trying to get home after a hard day of work, allow him to be in a position of power. Maybe, someone in his office, unless the trip is an emergency should say Mr. President Air Force One has a bedroom, why don’t we travel at a different time so we do not inconvenience the citizens of this Great Country.

all4HIM – You think we weren’t the butt of worldwide jokes when your pal Bill (“define ‘is’”) Clinton was president?? I’m sure no one around the world was laughing at us while he was busy getting impeached while he was not having sex with Monica. Bush might not be Einstein, but he at least signed up for the service during Vietnam. Did Clinton? “ registrant who has failed to report…remain liable for induction”
Truman began with very high popularity ratings, but they plunged to the lowest on record. For many historians, Truman now merits consideration as one of the greatest American presidents.
    Happy dancing.

The only ones to blame in this is the person who bought over their head, falsified their income on their loan applications and the lenders who did not thouroughly check the applications. For the people who bought within their means are the ones who are now being penalized having to pay for this mess.

True enough I have not lived through the entire history of these United States, but I doubt if anyone with less intelligence had ever occupied the highest office in the land.

Carter was not great in office, but his ideals and motives proved to be far more clear after he was out of office. History will remember him MUCH more favorably than the younger Bush, especially given his humanitarian efforts in his latter years. That I am certain of…..

Sorry, no foam to wipe off here, just disdain for a terrible leader.

    > Bush is the WORST president in American history

Your perspective on history is very short. I won’t argue that he has been one of the best, but you don’t have to go back far to find a worse one. Does the name Jimmy Carter strike a familiar note? And surely, you wouldn’t argue that James Buchanan, who breathed new life into American slavery, was better than Bush. I could go on, but it would be a waste of time. Now wipe the foam off your mouth and get back to work.

Some people are soooooo out of touch with reality. Bush is the WORST president in American history, and thanks to him we have become the butt of jokes worldwide.

We are the most powerfull nation on earth (supposedly), and we elected the VILLAGE IDOIT to be president once. (Since he stole the 1st election) and he served two terms. I’m so glad that this well below average intelligence, “I had my daddy call me in some favors”, can’t put together an intelligent sentence, so called man the heck out of the White House, I’ll dance when he’s gone.

Why do we fix money problems with money???? We need to fix the problem. Find out what the problem is and correct that, not hope to bail them out this time, with my dollars, and then hope and pray they don’t do it again.
These companies are individual corporations, why is the government in the business. If we start allowing the government to dip their hand in every small pot we won’t be a free society anymore.

On another note, why do we only blame Bush? It takes more than one person to create the problem we know today. Blame the americans who took on the excessive credit that they couldn’t pay for, blame the businessmen they only cared about money over the needs of the business, blame congress for not controlling the laws to prevent this sort of situation.

I seriously doubt there IS such a thing as a vacation for a President…regardless of his location. I only have 30 people working for me, and my vacations are rarely vacations. I can’t imagine what a president must go through!

Well said Annoyed and Pugman. Just ask Obama and Biden who is to blame for all this mess, and they will say in unison “Bush”. I guess Joe Biden and Barack Obama didn’t show up for work the last 8 years!

Democrats are really good at blame and not so good at solutions.

I guess all that stress is over since the bill has been passed. A rest is now needed. But you all can keep blaming Bush for every thing that happens even though he does not control the Democratic Congress. I have seen it time and again, the Democrats want to throw money at every problem until it goes away and that is not the way to solve a problem!

Hey, Teddy and Notomar, did you two feel the same way when Obama stayed away from the D.C. during the original negotiations? This is the Barney Frank-Chris Dodd made crisis. The President tried to prevent this crisis years ago by trying to fix the problems at Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac.

I guess President Bush needs vacation in Crawford. The meltdown in the economy and the bail out aren’t important enough for him to stay in Washington. Same ol’ same ol’.
