Even as gas prices remain in the stratosphere, Gov. Matt Blunt is touting savings on mile-reimbursements to state employees.
The key, Blunt’s office said today [2], is encouraging workers to take a rental car or state-owned sedan on some trips — rather than paying them a higher rate per a mile when they take their own personal vehicle. (In other words, the state doesn’t pay depreciation when the car belongs to Enterprise.)
According to Blunt, the push has saved taxpayers $15 million since he took office.
