Gov. Blunt will not endorse anyone this weekend

Rumors have been circulating this week that Gov. Matt Blunt might use this weekend’s state Republican convention to endorse U.S. Rep Kenny Hulshof in the Republican primary battle for governor. But Blunt’s communications director, Rich Chrismer, made it clear today that would not happen – at least, not this weekend.

“Governor Blunt has said that he is not making any endorsements at this time, but he has not ruled it out” in the future, Chrismer said.

As my colleague Jo Mannies has reported, Blunt’s preference for Hulshof has been suspected for some time. Although both candidates have snagged some of the governor’s top allies or former aides, the bulk of them are working for Hulshof.

And the governor’s brother, lobbyist Andy Blunt, co-hosted a fundraising event for Hulshof on Wednesday in Jefferson City. The names on the host committee also included state Republican Party executive director Jared Craighead’s wife, Alison Craighead. But Jared Craighead says he is remaining neutral.

Kenny who? Oh, you mean the same guy that went to DC as a Conservative Republican and voted over and over to raise taxes and incresase spending. He is no better than the Democrats. What did he do for Illegal immgration? Nothing! What will he do for our state? Nothing, except 8 more years of Blunt.

Kenny Hulshof will make a great Governor, irregardless of party affiliation. He has been a prosector, Congressman and his best quality is he’s a great person. He is an extremely fair and humble person. I could care less who endorses him actually, having known him for 25 years he has my vote.

All you republicans should buy a crying towel. The party of Lincoln has been tarnished. First by Nixon and now by … who knows what he is?

I can’t believe Chrismer isn’t in jail. Jo, can you update us on how much money we’ve spent on his lawyer. Ed Martin’s too. He got canned on Thanksgiving but yet were still paying his lawyer bills. Outrageous!

Who would want Blunt’s endorsement??? Doesn’t he have the lowest approval rating for an American governor?
