The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama proves this was a pre-conceived political scam to show the world he is a strong leader, an icon in the making, and one of the greatest leaders of the free world. The man’s done nothing.
This proves to me, every speech and apology he made, every visit to a foreign country, and everything he has said and done was planned in advance by the “Power Elite” to show the world, the United states can elect an African American to the highest office in the country and make him one of the most respected names in the history of the world.
I always had respect and admiration for the people awarding these prizes as well as those who actually did something to deserve receiving it. Now, it’s lost it’s glamor, it’s clout, it’s respectability. It’s just a prize now given to anyone who can say anything without doing anything concrete.
The man promised his followers he was going to end the wars and bring our soldiers home. Instead, he is contemplating sending additional troops to a foreign country we Americans do not care about and no longer want our military to become involved in these conflicts. If he really wanted to promote peace, shut down the basis in Germany, Spain, Italy, Korea, England, Bosnia, or any other country we have a military installation.
These countries are all grown up now and can take care of themselves.
Stop sending foreign aid to every country he feels needs our support and bring our people home. Open up the shut down military posts in this country and let the towns around them become what they used to be. Let them receive the benefits of having our soldiers live there and support their businesses. Let these town regain what was taken away by past administrations. Barack Obama has not and never will do anything to deserve the Nobel Peace. Maybe with Halloween coming, he would win something for his costume, President.

President Obama may not have deserved the Nobel Peace Prize as he humbly proclaimed, and his enemies wrongly concurred. But how many of us ever get what we truly deserve? Still, to many people, including those on the Nobel committee, Obama epitomizes a young world leader who effectively advocates peace on earth and goodwill toward all men. His is the style of leadership that challenges the status quo on behalf of widows and the fatherless. His words can eventually bring peace to warring factions. Obama brings an aura and spirit of peace that makes satanic forces be still and inquiring minds want to know more. In these dangerous times, we can’t afford not to encourage, honor, award, and reward any positive, influential leader to walk on courageously by faith, albeit he walks alone. We should be as wise as those Nobel officials who realize when mighty men like President Obama speak peace, evil men plan war.

Former President Bush and his cronies conducted foreign policy in a ham-handed manner and screwed up on every continent. People who followed Obama’s campaign recall his observation that the military action in Iraq was ill advised and wasteful while the threat within Afghanistan had never been adequately managed. Iraq has been returned to its citizenry and de-mobilization begun. We all want to see our troops come home. Unfortunately, that’s not the hand we were left with and that he inherited.
In spite of our national wealth and comparatively high education level, we choose to be the worst informed and the most ignorant about history & other cultures. The man’s been in office for 10 months but his accomplishments during his 2 year campaign for the Presidency have been overlooked. Why would the Nobel Committee consider him worthy of the Peace prize? Remember, he revived an American spirit that the world once admired. Seen any of the world approval polls lately? Instead of the usual D vs. R hype, he identified and reminded us of the values and concerns we share. He mobilized ordinary people and superior talent into a grass roots movement. He derailed the effective but old-hat Clinton political juggernaut. Someone who never owned a business ran a $500 Billion Election Campaign. Obama used renowned, respected and highly skilled people during his campaign. His biography prepared him to appreciate the multiple dimensions and issues of involvement in another country’s affairs. In other words, he took our ‘status quo’ and changed the direction of the most powerful country in the world. Could be that we’re standing too close to see what the world does? Obama’s race was not the reason they cheered and celebrated when he was elected.

This is just what I figured some would feel about both the White House and the Nobel Peace prize, they just mean nothing anymore now that Obama has attained them. (lol). Jim, I certainly wasn’t thinking of that “power elite”. Even skippy’s trilateral commission is more recent than the power elite theory. Yes we all know that money is power and power is control but to believe that there is one organized group of rich guys than collectively set and steer the course for us all is too simple…pure fantasy. The rich and powerful set course for themselves with little consideration as to the fate of the rest of us…the flotsam of the planet.
But as a matter of full disclosure, if you had suggested that GWB had been selected as a puppet leader for some dastardly group of rich meglomaniacs I may have bought into it.
I heard an interesting theory this morning: Obama knew he was getting the award and has not committed troops to Afghanistan because of the award. Once he picks up the award, he’ll commit the battle troops (he did commit 15,000 troops today, I believe, for support rolls only). I’m not sure whether to believe it or not, however his lack of decision makes sense now (since it wasn’t making sense prior).

Why didn’t he turn it down? That would have been the honorable thing to do.
I don’t agree with Obama being given this so soon. And unless you haven’t been paying attention, Obama said the same thing as well. Let’s not forget this.
The “Power Elite” I refer to are the movers and shakers who actually control the government, finances, and decisions made not only in the United States but the entire free world. Research the title.
Jim I agree with you that Obama has done nothing to earn a Nobel Peace prize. Obama said as much himself. I agree with you that the time has come to bring our troops home from most foreign deployments. Europe must take increased responsibility for it’s own security. As to Korea, well we may want to hang in there for a while. We have at least one Kim to go before we can begin to relax and we certainly have no friends in that neighborhood to turn the job over to. We must stay actively engaged in the middle east and Muslim world but ground force occupation is not the solution.
And my thoughts on the Nobel Peace prize…a clear shot at the cowboy mentality of GWB by the Europeans. They were ready to turn cartwheels of joy for any American leader willing to engage in diplomacy with the rest of the world.
