How about Barack Obama Interstate 44?

I know a few weeks ago there was an idea being thrown around about naming a street in Saint Louis after President Barack Obama. Instead of doing that why don’t we name a section of Interstate 44 after him.

This would make complete sense since he is the 44th president. I think that this would give some positive press to the city of Saint Louis, and also we might even get the President to visit. I am just surprised no one in the city hall has come up with this yet. We need to name a section here, before some other city along the way comes up with the idea!!!

I think it’s a great idea, Shawn, and I hope you wrote to Congress with it. This is a historic presidency, and progress should be honored. It’s not surprising that superdave and his band of rabid backwoods jackals don’t like the idea, because it will serve as a constant reminder to those here who don’t support Obama that they and their archaic prejudices are being left behind.

I’ve been saying it all along. SuperDave is SuperDumbDave. That’s okay. Let him home-school….public education already has its hands full without adding more to their plate!

Superdave… You’re being wholly ridiculous. You’re clearly wearing blinders, especially regarding the facts surrounding your own posts. You wrote, word for word: “Look, why isnt (sic) Ronald Reagans (sic) name being talked about (sic). The man was President (sic) for 8 years and whether you liked him or not he was unique and got a lot accomplished for this country.”

You wrote in the present tense, not the past, as in: “Why weren’t people discussing naming something after Ronald Reagan following his first month in office?” Once again: you did know there is an airport named after Reagan, right? I hope so, for your daughter’s sake, since you’ve posted before that you’re home schooling her. And that’s mentioning nothing regarding your abominable punctuation. I hope you at least subcontract out for an English composition instructor.

You Socialist are really strange. Obama has been President for a whole month and Shawn is wanting to name a highway for him. A street has already been named for him. I dont recall that after a month that Reagans name was on anything and it shouldnt have been. So, stop the crap and dont compare apples with screwdrivers.

Both of you are very guilty of being jerks many times so dont give me that typical liberal goody two shoes garbage. Frankly, you are both full of yourselves and dish it out extensively. Grow up! I feel like you two stooges are children.

Dr. Laura is a joke. As for Reagan’s name, uh, Superdave… Ever heard of a certain airport named after the man? Besides, I don’t view Reagan as having been a successful president — not for the people in general. And please spare me the comments about him single-handedly tearing down the Iron Curtain and/or Berlin Wall. There was a plurality of factors at work. Reagan was probably one of the least significant.

    Superdave-

As Lloyd Bensten once (almost )said , ” I knew Dr. Laura, and Dave, YOU are no Dr. Laura.

You are right about Reagan, in fact, I 88 in Illinois is already the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway, so that might be part of the issue.

Shawn also may be right … or he may be wrong, but what I am saying is that you have no reason to insult him. That’s NOT PC, that’s good manners, I thought ALL you conservatives were respectful and had good manners ……

Remember ” honor back to the White House” and all that ?

HKCHAS, you are too PC. Now come on, even you know the letter was stupid. Look, why isnt Ronald Reagans name being talked about. The man was President for 8 years and whether you liked him or not he was unique and got a lot accomplished for this country. Basically, to bring something up like this within the first 30 days is plain silly. I dont care if its Republican or Democrat. Even to rename Delmar to Obama Blvd is creepy. Lets see what happens first. Sorry, but this is emotional and childish. Hey, I call them as I see them. Sorry you dont like my technique but lots of people dont like Dr. Laura either but she gets her point across.

Now wait a second people. Shawn might be on to something. You would not want a highway named after a prez to be a piece of crap would you?
Maybe it would force MODOT to get rid of that useless 5th lane.

could we please wait more than one month before we start naming streets after Pres. Obama. I am very hopeful that he suceeds, but this type of blind adulation and worship resembles the early days of Hitler’s Germany! Will everyone please take a deep breath!

    No Dave –

YOU just need to learn to be civil. Didn’t your mother teach you that as you were growing up ? If this were talk between LIVE folks, you wouldn’t be so rude.

But being an anonymous, disembodied medium, you seem to think standard rules of discourse don’t apply.

HKCHAS, get over yourself. Go look in the mirror and have a good laugh. I dont mind debating some things honestly. But when someone wants to start naming streets and highways after someone within the first month I find that absolutely ridiculous and plain stupid. If you cant see that then you may want to watch out for the white coats. There are 2 things I cannot stand for sure. One is stupidity and the other is PC. Sometimes, if you cant take a joke then go back under your rock. I dont need your crap.

    Jagger–

I’l buy that argument, but the other side of the coin is we have to wait before we start criticizing him as the worst president ever elected.

BOTH side should just give him some time.

How about we entertain ideas like this like they do with a postage stamp. No stamp till after someone has died. This way their full legacy can be realized.

As usual, as I’ve mentioned brfore, you would rather attack individuals on a personal level than debate politics in a civil manner. Then when some one mentions your style you rant that ” the other guy deserved it.”
    How sad.

Me on the other hand, I simply say name one of the streets, Republican Way, and then make a law that you can only make right turns.

I just don’t get it. Just because we have our first partially white president who can perform speeches very well, poeple want to fall all over themselves praising him before he has achieved anything in office. If he turns out to the best president we’ve ever had, then great. Then, and only then, does he deserve all the praise. And maybe a highway.

How about you’re a moron for even suggesting a stupid idea like that? How about you respect the vote of the majority of Missourians who don’t like this *ss clown in office. If this guy (hussein) has done nothing else, he at least provided millions of examples of how extreme and retarded the left is. For that BHO, I thank you.

How about just the 5 miles on either side of six flags? The most accident prone area of any interstate in STL. is perfect for the carwreck of his economic plans

Now maybe Shawn is on to something here, we could rename 44 miles of I44 to “Barack Obama Interstate”. Of course, then we would tax drivers 44 cents a mile, then take that money and spend it on other, more deserving highways. After all, that is what President Obama wants to do with all our money.

How about naming the city of St Louis after Obama? We can always change the name of Busch Stadium to B.O. Park. Heck, while we are at it lets change the name of the Arch and call it Hussien’s Arch and National Park. If we are going to do this lets go all the way. I say we take a vote on it right away. Lets do this soon before we go bankrupt, because the chinese will be ready to swoop us up since they will be owning so much.

    Shawn,
The dedication “ceremony” naming Delmar after Barack Obama took place this past Saturday, February 21, 2009 on Kingshighway & Delmar at noon. Where were you?
For someone who is all excited about naming things after him, you sure don’t pay attention.
