Why should we be surprised by the increase in racially motivated incidents since the election of Barack Obama as President-elect? Even a cursory knowledge of this country’s history will show that it is, and always has been, a nation made up of a bigoted white majority who have done their best to beat down, and keep down, any group that didn’t meet their approval.

First it was the Native Americans followed quickly by the African slaves, then the Mexicans who came with the land we conquered, the Chinese we imported to build our railroads, the Irish and eastern Europeans we brought in to work in our mines, factories, and homes.

The fact that Obama was elected is only going to exacerbate this long-established racial hatred. The only thing that is going to cure it is time, unless of course one of this genetically-deprived low-IQ dribblers that are so terrified of somebody that doesn’t look just like them actually tries to carry out the threat of assassination, in which case this country will likely go up in flames that haven’t been seen since the murder (assassination is a far too pleasant sounding name for the act) of MLK Jr., and this assessment comes from a 61-yr old middle-class white guy who grew up in a lilly-white middle-class suburb that would have made Leave it to Beaver land look ethnically diverse.

Maybe the next time some moron’s child shouts “assassinate Obama” if they locked up the little beast and then arrested his parents (threatening the President is, I believe, a federal offense) maybe, just maybe, they’d find a more acceptable outlet for their displeasure. Maybe getting off their behind in front of the boob tube and becoming politically active so that our voter turnout would be something to be proud of instead of cringe-inducing, since 65% of the 72% who actually bothered to register is not what one would call an impressive turnout.

Anyway, a note to all those double-digit-IQ morons whose idea of political protest is running your mouth, get off your collective behinds and do something constructive, like I don’t know, maybe run for local office or organize or vote, you know, participate in this whole democracy thing that you like to rant about.

Mr. Joseph, Who are you talking to? Do you actually think the majority of bloggers here did not vote? I’m not sure I get the meaning of your rant.

Superdave… How is it that liberals see the world with tunnel-vision when most view problems and their possible solutions in shades of gray? On the other hand, conservatives tend to think of solutions in terms of black-and-white (i.e, Rush Limbaugh). While black-and-white thinking has its place — usually in terms of the grand philosophical issues — when it comes to human interactions, it’s patently obvious (this position itself is one exception to the above rule) that the only proper approach is to address issues in shades of gray. Many people who claim to be conservative — and thus think in terms of black-and-white — are really just mentally lazy people who don’t want to expend the effort to do the work. Now, who really holds a subscription to tunnel-vision? Or, to put it another way, which side is really wearing the blinders? Once again, the answer here is clear-cut.

    Sorry Mr. Joseph,

Although I agree with much of the script, your presentation is a bit over the top, bordering on hammism. Perhaps, I enjoy a greater appreciation of the country as a whole, and its citizens in particular (even the conservative ones). What you say is true; the country (as most countries) suffers from the ramifications of a deplorably intolerant past. This national character flaw has been revisited many times and is well recognized by all. To continue to point out our faults, while overlooking our achievements, is an exercise in futility. Methinks thou doth protest too much.

The chanting of a child, regardless of the mental capacity of his parents seems to scare the ca-ca out of loopy Obama worshipers. Run, run Mr. Joseph, the children are coming.

But it’s so much more fun to rant! Seriously, though, Mr. Joseph, I more than understand your overall point, and agree with it, but regarding your last paragraph, you’ve missed one important consideration. A lot of people act as if societal critics (those people who just complain, either in public statements or the written word) aren’t doing anything. The same with environmental activists who warn about things like global warming. But if these people are successful, what they are warning about WON’T happen; if they fail, it does happen. Unfortunately, that’s the rub. It’s really a no-win situation, considering the attitude of the general public.

John, As if your generation (mindset) hasn’t done enough harm to America.

I was raised to respect my elders, but I don’t know if I still have to if they are liberal boomers.

Impossible! We were told that the mere presence of the sacred Obamamessiah would heal all racial divisions in this country, nay, in the entire world!! We were promised that Obamamessiah would transcend race, that he was the Great Uniter the ancient scrolls had prophesized!! Just look at how Community Organizer Obamamessiah integrated the South Side of Chicago and healed all racial animosity there!! NOW you tell us it was all bunk?!?!

And also please do explain how the evil imperialist “brought in” the Irish? Are you telling me they didn’t freely leave Ireland to escape poor political and economic conditions?

Anyone that denies racism doesn’t still exist has “tunnel vision.” St. Louis is a great example, this is one of the most segregated cities I have ever lived in. This is coming from someone who has also lived in cities in the south.

How long do we have to put up with this dribble? This is so one-sided and so short-sided that it sickens me to no end. However, I try to look at this as another close minded liberal who sees the world with tunnel vision. Was it racists when the 2 black men walked into a Steak n’ Shake and killed two white people. How many incidents do you want? How many times are you going to pull the race card? How about when Clarence Thomas was nominated to the Supreme court? Were you singing the same song?

This is about liberalism and nothing else. I would have been much happier to see Condeleeza Rice as President then Obama. Would you be singing the same song? Should I use the race card when it works for me? I prefer to look at the individual and not the race, unlike most liberals. Remember, it was you liberals who trashed Sarah Palin.

Funny how that works, isn’t it?
