Kenny Wallace, U.S. Border Patrol Team Head to ORP for “Throwback” Race
Monroe, N.C. (Wednesday, July 23, 2008) – After a momentum building top-20 result in last weekend’s Nationwide Series race at Gateway, Kenny Wallace and Team U.S. Border Patrol will head to the final event of a three-race Midwestern swing for the Nationwide Series at the O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis.
Wallace calls the site of this weekend’s race a “throwback,” and there’s no argument against that. With its progressive-banked turns providing constant side-by-side battles, it’s exactly the type of track Wallace honed his skill on before reaching national stardom.
“It’s the type of racing I grew up on,” said Wallace. “It’s hardcore, short-track racing, and it’s a lot of fun.”
And Wallace has experienced his share of success at the short track, which measures just over three-fifths of a mile. He has a pole and three top-10 finishes to his credit at the track, and he’ll be looking to add another strong result to his resume on Saturday night.
“I’m looking forward to this weekend with our U.S. Border Patrol Team,” said Wallace.
The U.S. Border Patrol Recruitment Team will also be in action this weekend as they continue their recruitment program toward making 6,000 new hires in the next two years. They’ll be present at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday while Wallace and his U.S. Border Patrol Team compete across town at the O’Reilly Raceway Park.
It’s a one-day show at ORP on Saturday, with two Nationwide Series practices in the morning. Qualifying is on schedule for 4:30 p.m. (eastern), with live coverage from ESPN2. Coverage for the O’Reilly Kroger 200 begins at 7:30 p.m. (eastern), with live coverage from ESPN.
