kfp.jpgFirst, I apologize to anyone who was at the 2:25 p.m. showing of ‘Kung Fu Panda‘ at Crestwood Mall yesterday. Those kids who kept yelling ‘awesome’ during the fight scenes were part of my group.

It’s hard to blame them. The movie was number one at the box office and pulled in $60 million over the weekend. And Jack Black’s performance was, well, awesome.

Dustin Hoffman, who plays master Shifu, stood out, but you’ll also hear Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Angelina Jolie and Seth Rogen. I’ve been twice and enjoyed it both times.

‘Kung Fu Panda’ is your best bet for a kid’s flick right now, but there is some violence in the film that might frighten very young children. ‘Wall-E,’ opening June 27, ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth,’ opening July 11, and ‘Space Chimps,’ opening July 18, also seem promising for the summer.
