MAKING THE A-LIST: More than 1,000 people packed Maryland Plaza last night for St. Louis magazine’s 5th annual A-List party, making it the mag’s largest such event yet. Of course, since the ‘06 and ‘07 events were outdoors and got hit by heavy rain, those numbers suffered as a result.
Whatever the cause, between A-List, All-Star fever and incredibly fortunate weather, the event was jammed with pretty people, networkers and local celebs. Particularly inspiring were the Human Disco Balls, which were performers perched on the plaza’s fountain dressed in black bodysuits with mini mirrors attached, and the Parkour Performers, who were athletic types doing flips and turns and running up walls.
One of the ladies in the crowd was so inspired that she joined the Parkour crew and did a cartwheel down the middle of the plaza — high heels, skirt and all — to the delight of onlookers.
Front and center was the always affable Joe Buck who was the top A-lister and on the magazine’s July cover, which featured the area’s best in 130 various categories. Joe was accompanied by his wife Ann. He told this colyumnist that he was looking at a super busy weekend leading into the All-Star game, with a larger than usual number of rehearsals for the game introduction itself because of the security that will be needed when President Barack Obama throws out the first pitch.
Others we spotted enjoying the lovely weather and the head-turning crowd: Ray and Kerri Hartmann, Guy and Kim Phillips, Jasmine Huda, James Butler, Jacob Bell, Leslie Tunney, Derek Stanley, Melanie Moon, Gerard Craft, Mark Reardon, Sara and Kurt Hentz, Jeff Small, Sam Koplar, Ted Koplar, Frances Thompson, Stephen Schenkenberg, Nicole and James Edgerton, Meghan and Eric Fritsche, Amit Dhawan, Valerie Mills, Meghan and Robert Fort, Melissa and Greg Bohlmann, Greg Lukeman, Kevin Johnson, Suzi Schrappen and George Mahe, Dave Lowry, Carrie Edelstein, Ellen Soule, Jerry Talamantes, Ralph Butler (with his band), DJ Steve Meier, Debra Bass, Maggie Pearson, Rena and Todd Abrams, Linda Hall, Pete and Tanya Feretti, Carrie Houk, Zoe Houk Robinson, Brook Dubman, Brian Smith and Matt Moynihan.

If that’s our town’s A-list, then the ‘Loo sure ain’t a big city any longer.

Why do you all hate your city SO much?! It baffles the mind … Congrats to St. Louis Magazine for continuing to raise the bar and the profile of our city. Almost everyone whos anyone is this town was there, enjoying the great party and looking fantastic. If you don’t know half these people, darling, you haven’t left the house in a very long time.
Also, moderator: where is the policing of the racist comments??!

who? i’ve never heard of most of these losers…a couple of them i recognize as currently unemployed…several others don’t have 2 nickels to rub together, and haven’t since they departed divorce court…finally, i could name one who has significant deficiencies with the irs and dept of revenue, according to his own deposition and filings with the court…and we want to party with these numbskulls?…i’d rather hang out w/ their ex-wives and creditors, since prospects seem better w/ them…
and would anyone in his right mind stay at a party where a slpd reporter was stationed?…doubtful, i’d wager…
