Police this afternoon identified a man killed early Saturday in a fiery head-on crash with a tractor trailer as Kyle Lauders, 20, of O’Fallon, Mo.
Investigators suspect Lauders had been drinking alcohol before the 3 a.m. crash on westbound Highway 40 near BaratHaven subdivision in O’Fallon. The crash shut down the highway for several hours.
Lauders was driving a 2000 silver Infiniti eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 40, police said. He crashed head-on with a tractor trailer driven by Danny Lanier, 48, of Kansas City. The collision caused what police described as a large explosion that melted the truck’s cab and part of the trailer. Lanier was not hurt.
Lauders died about 3:40 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur. Police are awaiting toxicology tests to confirm whether Lauders had been drinking.

Thank God he didn’t take anyone with him.

Check out the Missouri Highway Patrol website [www.MSHP.org] crash reports. This happens several times a month. Sad. Really sad.

Once a year? How so? Isn’t it more like 20-25%-ish, 50% on the weekends, of all fatal crashes? If it was suicide I wouldn’t care so much, it the acceptable form or murder that gets me.

Kyle Lauders, dead, at the age 20, because of drinking and driving. Such a waste. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, at this time. May Kyle RIP
