A fire damaged a home in St. Peters this afternoon, Central County Fire and Rescue officials said. No one was injured.
Assistant Chief Steve Brown said the fire was reported at 2:07 p.m. in the 400 block of Quiet Field Court. Firefighters saw black smoke coming from the roof vents of a single-story home when they arrived. Neighbors said an elderly woman was in the finished basement area of the home.
Firefighters forced their way inside and helped the woman to safety, Brown said.
The fire was contained to the attic above the kitchen. Its cause remained under investigation this afternoon. Damage was estimated at $10,000, Brown said. None of the adjacent homes suffered damage, eh said.
