Poetry reminders:

Observable Readings has its monthly free event at 8 p.m. tonight at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood. Featured are Michael Dumanis and Jericho Brown.

Dumanis is a professor at Cleveland State University; Brown teaches at the University of San Diego.

Observable will also introduce its curators for 2009-10: Jeff Hamilton and Robert Lowes.

Just a few miles away from the Bottleworks,  Brenda Shaughnessy will read from her work at Washington University. It  is at  8 p.m.  tonight in Hurst Lounge, Room 201, Duncker Hall.

Shaughnessy is the author of “Human Dark with Sugar” (2008), winner of the James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets and one of five finalists for the 2008 National Book Critics Circle Award in poetry.
