Observable Readings celebrates with reading, party
Jane Henderson
Post-Dispatch Book Editor

The poetry lovers who go to Observable Readings have lots of opportunities this week for fun.

Thursday night (Nov. 6) is the regular monthly reading, this time titled somewhat clinically (politically, ironically?) “Four Females.” Starting at 8 p.m. at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood see females  Nickole Brown, Erin Keane, Kristi Maxwell and Cynthia Arrieu-King. The Observable [1]site at the St. Louis Poetry Center offers bio info.

Friday night (Nov. 7), the series celebrates its sixth anniversary with a party at Firecracker Press. Founder Aaron Belz, who recently moved to California, will be there to read at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6. It costs $20 to get in, but students get a big discount ($10). Party includes food, Schlafly beer and a chance to see a letterpress operate.

Firecracker Press is at 2838 Cherokee Street, five blocks west of Cherokee’s intersection with Jefferson Avenue.
