Although no visits have been set up as of yet, the Rams have had discussions with the agents for free-agent wide receivers Nate Washingon of Pittsburgh and Brandon Jones of Tennessee.

Washington is visiting Detroit on Friday; Jones was en route to San Francisco Friday. But there’s a chance both players could be in St. Louis over the weekend for free-agent trips.

In addition, the Rams have had discussions with the agent for San Francisco tight end Billy Bajema, although no visit has been set up. Bajema is believed to be drawing interest from the Rams as well.

“Will cutting Holt really give us $20 million in cap room for this year?!?!”

No. Holt and Pace together free up around 14 million, though.

    FA Priority list

    1 – Brown, C/G
    2 – Birk, C
    3 – Butler, FS
    4 – Weaver, FB
    5 – Resign Ron Bartell

Cut/Trade Tori Holt, if healthy keep Pace!!!!!

and hope someone is dumb enough to offer Incognito a contract and get him out of STL….PLEASE, that w/ a good Holt trade would give us 3 – 3rd round picks.

The words Brandon Jones remind me strangley of two other words that originated in Tennessee that made me sick….Drew Bennett……COME ON

Cut or Trade Holt, I love him but at that price he has to go, and then draft a WR in the 3rd or 4th round….we have three good young wideouts…let them take over next year….and concentrate on O-LINE so Bulger can use those young targets and Jackson can get back to pro-bowl form. Cutting/trading Holt gets up up to $20 million in cap space….sign BROWN, go get BIRK and re-sign Bartell and bring in Butler, then draft Curry @ 2 and an OT in the 2nd round….that way we can dangle PACE for a better value or let him block this season and cut him at the end of 2009, saving us more toward next year.

Draft like this (assuming we can wiggle what I mentioned in free agency)
    rd1-Curry, LB
rd2-C/OT – lots of depth in this draft class for quality o-linemen
    rd3-WR/CB
    rd4-CB/DT
    rd5-LB
    rd6-HB/FB
    RD7-best player available

4 or 5 FA signings and that draft would make the rams contenders in the NFC west…..
